The minimum client version applies to anyone joining U-M Zoom Meetings or Webinars, including external guests. U-M requires a minimum client version to increase security and minimize confusion and issues with missing features in old apps. Older apps are less secure and also are missing many critical features that people need for teaching, learning, and research at U-M, such as the ability to self-select breakout rooms, suspend participant activities, etc. Note: many Zoom features are not available in the browser and only available in the app therefore, ITS recommends updating your app whenever possible rather than joining from the browser. ALTERNATIVE: Join from your browser by clicking the Join from browser link. The message shown regarding contacting IT is a standard Zoom message that cannot be customized with U-M instructions. Most users should be able to update their app on their own, without contacting IT. RECOMMENDED: Update your app, then try to join the meeting or webinar again. To join this meeting or webinar, you must either update your Zoom app OR join from the browser. Please contact your IT team to update your app. If you’ve joined the meeting before the host, you might be shown a holding screen until they join and start the meeting.I tried to join a Zoom Meeting or Webinar and got an error: Update Required, Your app version needs to be or higher to join this meeting. 
Assuming you’re joining a UK call with a UK phone number, you will be charged your normal call rate with no extra fees.
Calling into a meeting is simple: just dial the number you were given and enter the Meeting ID when prompted. If you can join by dialling in, the organiser will have sent you the Meeting ID and number to call when they invited you. Dialling in with mobile should be saved as a last resort, especially as some meetings may not support it. This makes it a better experience for everyone and will allow you to view any resources being shared in the call, such as a presentation. It’s always best to try and join a meeting online using the Zoom app on your computer or smartphone/tablet if possible. You can’t join in browser on tablets or smartphones.
If you haven’t downloaded the app you'll be automatically taken to a webpage asking you to download it. When asked what you’d like to open the link with select "Zoom".
